Press Release: Dixie Electric Builds Microwave Backbone with Future Technologies & Cambium Networks

Press Release: Future Technologies Names Cambium Networks as the Wireless Communications Technology Provider for Dixie Electric Power Association

Wireless communications backbone enables high capacity connectivity for mission critical assets and infrastructure

Future Technologies Venture, LLC and Cambium Networks (NASDAQ:CMBM) announced that the companies have collaborated to provide an end-to-end wireless communications solution for Dixie Electric Power Association. This multi-year project will deliver a communications backbone network enabling high capacity and high availability connectivity for Dixie Electric’s critical assets and infrastructure, while providing a platform for next generation applications and services.

Dixie Electric services rural Mississippi across seven counties with 4,980 miles of line, and over 39,000 members served. With its continued focus on cost effective reliable service, Dixie Electric applied for and received a federal government grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture – Rural Utilities Service (RUS) to design and build out new critical infrastructure. Dixie Electric conducted an RFQ from which they selected Future Technologies to provide the design, furnish, and build of the network.

After analyzing Dixie Electric’s requirements and goals, Future Technologies selected Cambium Networks’ wireless fabric portfolio of connectivity solutions for the deployment. Peter Cappiello, Chief Executive Officer of Future Technologies Venture, said, “Cambium Networks has a broad, robust product offering that is perfect for the industrial mission critical networks that we are deploying. We designed this network with Cambium Networks’ PTP 820S licensed microwave and PTP 670 unlicensed point-to-point solutions. These products are uniquely positioned to provide a complete transport solution that will meet the security, availability and capacity required for this deployment.”

Derek Underwood, Regional Vice President for North America with Cambium Networks commented, “Future Technologies expertise across multiple technology types was critical in completing this project successfully. By managing the full project lifecycle, from the initial design, to deployment and ongoing maintenance of the network, Future Technologies brings unique value to our customers in complex, mission critical projects.”

Dana Powell, IT Supervisor for Dixie Electric added, “The capabilities of the Cambium Networks products and the experience and execution of the Future Technologies team has combined to make this a very successful project, meeting or exceeding our goals allowing us to fully modernize our network and deliver a host of new high availability, bandwidth intensive applications.”
