Georgia-based System Integrator tapped to design and deliver network infrastructure for multi-billion dollar electric vehicle manufacturing facility.
Future Technologies Venture, LLC (“Future Technologies”) today announced the delivery of a Private 5G Network for Hyundai Motor Group. Hyundai Motor Group has officially inaugurated its $7.6 billion electric vehicle (EV) manufacturing facility, known as the Hyundai Motor Group Metaplant America (HMGMA), which sits on 2,900 acres of land in Bryan County, Georgia. This state-of-the-art facility is North America's largest and most advanced 'smart factory', currently employing over 1,200 individuals. The facility, which began producing EVs six months ago, is designed to be highly flexible to produce both all-electric and hybrid vehicles to adapt to evolving market demands.
“Future Technologies has been headquartered out of Georgia for over 25 years. We appreciate the value that this significant investment by Hyundai Motor Group brings to the local market,” said Peter Cappiello, CEO, Future Technologies. “Future Technologies is very proud to announce our contribution to this project as the Lead System Integrator for the facility’s Private 5G solution. Our skilled team of engineers and technicians designed and delivered the network, providing critical connectivity infrastructure to support Industrial Automation and Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMR).”
Private 5G networks play a crucial role in advancing industrial automation initiatives by providing a high-performance, secure, and flexible communication infrastructure tailored to the needs of smart factories and industrial environments. Unlike traditional Wi-Fi or public cellular networks, Private 5G offers ultra-low latency, high bandwidth, and greater reliability, ensuring seamless connectivity for industrial robots, automated guided vehicles (AGVs), IoT sensors, and other connected devices. These capabilities enable real-time data transmission, remote monitoring, and predictive maintenance, which enhance operational efficiency and reduce downtime.
In a strategic move to bolster its U.S. presence, Hyundai announced plans to increase the plant's production capacity by 60%, aiming to produce 500,000 vehicles annually. This expansion is part of a broader $21 billion investment by Hyundai in the United States, which includes a $5.8 billion steel mill in Louisiana. The company anticipates creating approximately 14,000 new direct full-time jobs in the U.S. by 2028.
